Handbook of South Carolina Historic Sites

Historic buildings, forts, plantations, mansions, battlegrounds, monuments, and more

South Carolina's history can really come to life when you actually see it and visit the places where events happened. Imagine watching a re-enactment of a Revolutionary War battle, walking thru a house where a former governor lived, riding a train over historic railroad lines, or hiking along a canal built by hand hundreds of years ago.

Much of the state's rich history has been preserved for our education and enjoyment, from revolutionary war battlefields to historic houses and monuments.
