Handbook of South Carolina's Zoos

For wildlife enthusiasts, South Carolina is fortunate to have several animal collections spread out around the state. In Columbia you will find a wonderful 170-acre site, known as the Riverbanks Zoological Park, containing over 2000 animals. Greenville has a smaller but still interesting zoo located downtown next to Cleveland Park. Down in the Charleston area you can find the Animal Forest at Charles Towne Landing, an aquarium and butterfly house at Cypress Gardens, and quite a few animals at Bee City, USA! In the Grand Strand area, you can visit the Lowcountry Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens.
