Located in southeastern Richland County is one of the last surviving old-growth swamps in the eastern United States. Now, a number of boardwalks and hiking trails are open to the public, so this is an excellent place to go for long hikes. The Harry Hampton Visitor Center has several displays with plenty of information about the park and a gift shop.

Canoeing and fishing are also available here. Pets and bicycles are permitted only in a few designated areas.

Note: This park was formerly known as the “Congaree Swamp National Monument”, and is still sometimes refered to as the “Congaree Swamp”.
