This very interesting point-to-loop hiking trail takes you thru the wetlands of the Francis Marion National Forest to some old rice fields that are now preserved as a wildlife sanctuary.

How to get there

Located off US #17 between Mount Pleasant and Awendaw.

Take I-526 to the US #17 North exit and go northeast on US #17 for 23.8 kilometers (14.8 miles). Turn left onto I'on Swamp Road (Forest Service road #228) and go north until you see the parking lot on the left. Look carefully, because it is not well marked.
