Quite a few trails for hiking, mountain bicycling, and horseback riding run thru this forest and the adjacent Poinsett State Park, including the High Hills passage of the Palmetto Trail.

How to get there
|
Located southwest of Sumter, SC, between Wedgefield and Pinewood.
Take US #76/US #378 (Garners Ferry Road) to Stateburg, SC, about 9.8 kilometers (6 miles) east of the Wateree River. Go south on US #261 (Kings Highway) 12.6 km. (8 mi.), then turn onto River Road as it forks off to the right. You are now in the Manchester State Forest.
OR
Take I-95 to exit #119 and go west on SC #261 for 30.1 kilometers (19 miles). Turn left onto Poinsett Park Road (#63), which leads into the State Forest.
This forest is adjacent to Poinsett State Park.
