According to this trail's brochure, “It takes work to get there, but it's well worth it.” This little-known piece of the East Coast Greenway passes through some wonderful scenic and historic areas. The south end of this unpaved rail-trail terminates at the New River.

How to Get There

• Look for the Heritage at New Riverside neighborhood entrance on the south side of May River Road (SC #46/170). After entering the neighborhood, go halfway around the traffic circle to the Heritage Parkway. Follow Heritage Parkway for about 0.75 miles (1.2 kilometers), and there will be trail entrances on both sides of the road.
