This recreation area just south of Abbeville has quite a bit to offer. When you come in, you will find a small fishing lake with designated swimming and picnic areas. There is a ramp for non-motorized boats.
A camping area near the lake is open from April until mid-December. A challenging hiking trail begins at the lake and climbs up Parsons Mountain, past an abandoned gold mine, to the observation tower. There are some really nice views from the top of the mountain, especially in the fall. From the tower, you can see for miles in all directions.
