Thousands of people zoom across this little island every day on their way to Hilton Head, but only a few of them stop to visit. Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge offers plenty of gravel roads and grassy dikes for walking, bicycling, and nature observation. Miles and miles of hiking trails offer opportunity for wildlife observation. The south side of the island features the C. C. Haigh, Jr. Boat Landing, with a picnic area and a popular fishing pier. Several smaller islands are included in this wildlife refuge, but they are not open to public use.
