Thousands of people zoom across this island every day on the way to Hilton Head, but only a few of them stop to visit.

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge offers plenty of gravel roads and grassy dikes for walking, bicycling, and nature observation. Miles and miles of hiking trails offer opportunity for wildlife observation.

The south side of the island features the C. C. Haigh, Jr. Boat Landing, with a picnic area and a popular fishing pier.
