The Santee River has the largest river delta on the Atlantic Coast. Much of it is now part of this Wildlife Management Area where you can hike and explore the scenic wilderness. Several old rice fields can also be seen here.

Note that many of the trails are closed from November 15th to February 1st.

How to get there

Located on US #17 between Georgetown and McClellanville.

Take I-26 to exit #212 and go east on I-526 for 19.3 kilometers. Exit onto US #17 north, then go northeast on US #17 for 62.7 km. The wildlife management area will be on both sides of the road, between the South Santee River and the North Santee River.
